Gray for Glioblastoma
A 501 (c) 3 created to raise awareness for and funds to support Glioblastoma Multiforme research by accepting donations and donating to cancer care and research facilities. Our organization has gifted over $200,000 to support GBM research projects at renowned cancer centers including Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Children’s Hospital LA/Saban Research Institute and The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. We accomplish this while simultaneously creating a hopeful and positive space and providing resources and a space of community through our social media and events.
Our story
Founder and Director, Katherine Snedeker, a current UT Austin Senior started Gray for Glioblastoma, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, to raise money for research and awareness of glioblastoma multiforme in 2021. Her dad, her best friend, biggest mentor and the most incredible and involved father, was diagnosed with this disease, in May of 2021. After his diagnosis, Katherine anxiously searched the internet and social media platforms for glioblastoma resources and glioblastoma research and sadly discovered little of either and a lot of pessimistic and difficult information. This is when she knew she needed to use her action based personality and her passion for philanthropy and event planning to find a way to make a difference in the brain cancer space. She wanted to create a space of community support for all those impacted by this terrible disease and to raise funds for research. After 6 months of hard work, learning, a lot of planning and an application to the IRS, Gray for Glioblastoma was born and became a glioblastoma charity! Gray for Glioblastoma continues to be Katherine’s passion every day in memory of her father, Craig, who passed in March of 2023 after almost a two year battle with Glioblastoma.
