An estimated 108,810 adults will be diagnosed with a primary brain tumor in 2026 in the U.S. 4 in 9 malignant brain tumors are diagnosed as glioblastoma multiforme. In recent years, only 2-3% of total research dollars from major organizations like the NIH went to brain and CNS cancers.
Gray for Glioblastoma is optimistic that we can help change the course of this disease with our commitment to make glioblastoma research a national priority. Brain cancer is extremely underfunded given the annual number of deaths and average survival rate.Our mission is to raise much needed awareness and funding for Glioblastoma Multiforme research while simultaneously creating a hopeful and positive space for all impacted by GBM. Gray is the glioblastoma (brain cancer) ribbon color and we believe it is COOL to support brain cancer research.®
What is Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM)?
A grade IV astrocytoma, fast-growing and aggressive malignant brain tumor found in the brain or spinal cord. The cause of glioblastoma is unknown and there is no known method for prevention. Since GBM is extremely resistant to conventional therapies, treatment protocol usually involves surgery, after which chemotherapy and radiation therapy may be used. Even then, only 25% of GBM patients survive over a year.

Through grayscale photographs, this initiative creates a space to honor, inspire, remember, reflect, and stand together.
