One Irish Step Closer to a Cure

In honor of Tess Callaghan

Tess spent years as a Registered Dietitian passionately ensuring her patients had the best care possible. Tess loved the outdoors, traveling, and music.

Everyone loved Tess; she was a gentle and caring soul. Her infectious smile and laugh is on loop in all of our hearts.

Diffuse midline gliomas are primary central nervous system tumors. They begin in the brain or spinal cord. Diffuse midline glioma is a rare subtype of glial tumors. All diffuse midline gliomas are grade IV tumors. This means they are malignant (cancerous) and fast-growing.

In 2023, only 3% of all cancer funding went to Brain and Central Nervous Center cancers.

The average overall survival for people with diffuse midline glioma is less than 1 year – generally ranging from 8-11 months. About 10% of people survive at least 2 years after diagnosis. About 2% of people survive at least 5 years after diagnosis.
