Bipartisan BRAIN Act Re-Introduced in Congress

BRAIN Act (H.R.2767/S.1330)

The Bolstering Research And Innovation Now (BRAIN) Act has been reintroduced in Congress by a bipartisan group of policymakers in the House and Senate. This landmark piece of legislation – a historic first for the brain tumor community – advances the quest to defeat brain tumors, once and for all, by increasing research funding, fostering collaboration, promoting critical awareness efforts, and supporting innovations in care. What does this mean?

When a bill is reintroduced in Congress, it means that the legislation has been submitted again for consideration after not being enacted in a previous session. This process is common for bills that did not pass before the end of a congressional term but still have support and relevance.

In the case of the Bolstering Research And Innovation Now (BRAIN) Act, it was initially introduced in the 118th Congress (January 3, 2023 – January 3, 2025) as H.R.2767/S.1330. Since it did not become law during that session, it has been reintroduced in the 119th Congress. This reintroduction allows lawmakers to continue advocating for the bill's objectives, such as increasing research funding and improving care for brain tumor patients.
